When my oldest son started school I was on top of it all.
First day of school picture – Check.
Join the PTA – Check.
Sweet handwritten note in his lunchbox – Check.
Have my son’s hourly schedule memorized in my head –
Check. I didn’t admit that…nope.
I may not always be that on top of it now. However, one area I have kept up in is the lunchbox notes. My method to keep this simple is to mass produce them. Once printed and cut out, I put them inside a baggie in a kitchen drawer. You know, that “catch-all” drawer. I know you’ve got one too! 😉
I just like giving him that little reminder of ‘Hey, I’m thinking of you buddy’.
Who knows, perhaps he will write his master thesis for grad school using my lunch notes as a starting ground — Skye Gould did. See the endearing story here. Or just the thought of my son having a quick smile at lunch will do too.
By the way, the best lunchbox I have found has been this one. It fits most any Tupperware, thermos, or bento box type container I have put in it. It also has a mesh pocket on this inside lid that is perfect for putting these notes and utensils in. They have a ton of different patterns to choose from.
These emoji lunchbox notes are fun for older school age kids. I try and keep these simple on a white background to save on color ink. An easy way to spruce them up a bit if you want is to glue them on some colorful paper, a bit larger that the original border.
I have made up some with saying and blank notes as well. Some days I like to scribble something into the note that is applicable to that particular day or moment.
