Do you like projects that are simple and cheap? Me too! This Simple DIY Christmas Sled Decor is right up our alley then.
I have been into all things bright red, plaid and vintage this Christmas. I have the red truck and glamper (glam-camper). Then I found some buffalo check gift wrap. Finally, I just needed a sweet vintage touch. My poor tree was hurting for a decor piece to help it pop! with all that black buffalo check gift wrap.
In comes the red vintage sled to save the day!
If you have $1.00 and 20 minutes you can have a sweet red sled too!
Simple DIY Christmas Sled Decor
- 1 pack of 10 one gallon paint stick stirrers (can be found at any home store for about $1.00)
- hot glue gun
- handsaw or awesome karate chopping skills
- decorative pieces (optional)
Using your 10 paint stick stirrers, you need to cut the handle end off of 3.
Hot glue two of the cut paint stirrers to one of the intact paint stirrers. I glued at the 2″ and 7″ mark.
Hot glue another intact paint stirrer to the other end of the cut stirrers.
Glue on your sled slats (intact paint stirrers).
Glue on two of the cut handles at an angle to the front of the sled.
AND this is the part where I got a little excited about this project and forgot to take the last step picture. Hot glue on the final cut stirrer on top of the two handles.
I chose to paint my sled red and then used sandpaper to antique the edges. Adding a pretty pine swag and ribbon were my final touches.
This sweet little sled also makes for great teddy bear rides through the house.
